On July 9, 2004 Ohio Pug Rescue received a call from the Butler county dog warden, Renee Jeffries. The dog warden had organized a puppy mill raid at the home of Anita Baker of Butler County and wanted to know if we could help with the dogs. There were 26 pugs all together, 4 of them had to be put down because of their medical condition. Two days later a group of OPR members met at the shelter to pick the dogs up. We were all brought to tears as they brought the pugs out one by one to be examined by the vet. They were all so scared and some were sick. One by one we gave them a name and a home. Below are some pictures of our members hard at work with the little pugs at the shelter. We loaded up our SUVs with crates and pugs and on our way home we went. Waiting in one central location were foster parents from all over the state for the arrival of the pugs. Within 2 days we organized a foster home for each one of these little pugs.
